Anton/Bauer Mount For An Arri SR
Does anyone out there have any experience good or bad with the AB gold mount that was adapted to fit the Arri SR ? Would anyone have a picture of what it looks like ?
I'm researching ways to power a 12 volt SR other than recelled Arri batteries or the Dewalt power tool adapter.

I tried to order one and they (Anton/Bauer) needed me to send them an old battery case in order to make it. I opted not to get it.
Consequently I don't know this first hand but I'd heard from others that the Arri battery mount wasn't really strong enough to hold an A/B battery (esp. a 100 W/H brick). So while I didn't plan to hang a 100 W/H battery, I didn't want to risk it breaking at a bad time, either. It would have been awfully convenient, though.
I ended up getting a battery belt that consists of a gold-mount on a web-belt. Not as compact as mounting the battery on the back of the camera, but much more durable and flexible (I can use it for the video or the film camera).

Basically it was part of the battery, melded to an Aaton brick plate. The Bricks tended to be too heavy for the magnets to hold up, and would flop down.

Did the same thing, used the old battery case, with my SR, only used Aspen NHP 65 batteries which are 65 watt/hours and weigh 2 lbs. No need for a 100 WH Anton Bauer. and the 6 lbs it weighs.

Actually, I know someone who uses this for her SR. It's a gold mount on a plate that uses the same magnet/hinge mounting as the regular Arri on-boards.
The problem with it is that this was originally designed for Anton/Bauer's older 13.2v batts, not the current 14.4v units they use. When these are fully juiced they top off over 16v and can possibly fry the electronics, or at least this is what she was told. So she's forced to use older A/B Compaq and the small Proformer cells.
These run the camera for 4-5 mags each (no tap, but a Microforce is powered from it) and she has an older charger that works with these bricks as well. Don't know if the current A/B bricks and chargers would work properly with the Arri SR.

My Aspen batteries regularly come off the charger at around 16 v. However my camera electronics were heavily modernised and the camera will run on anything from 12 to 30 v, needs 24 v + for speeds above 150.
