This was a 2 day shoot with 3 camera's locked off for the whole
time. We shot one day with the father, son & animatronic dog
and one day with a cage built around the set and the tiger.
The light was varying from brilliant sunshine to total overcast
and rain, so we ended up shooting a lot of it at night lit to match
the day-time sequences.
The set was surrounded with 20*20 silks and other than when we had
very hard back-light from the sun the look didn't change. We had
a 16Kw HMI in the middle of shot backlighting the artists and painted
it out in post.
In fact a lot of it had to be assembled in post as we never had
an entirely good sky so that's made up with bits from 3 passes,
the performances of the father, son & dog were never all good
at the same time so they're assembled from different takes and of
course we had to remove the animatronics operators and replace the
foreground as it was ruined by rain.
