Memory Sticks For F900

Published : 5th May 2005

Are there any limitations on which memory sticks can be used with the F900 now?

I know that initially they had to be 4Mb ones but they're impossible to get now.

Does it matter of they're MagicGate capable?

Cheers

I net most f900's are updated to accept larger memory sticks. In fact, one time during prep we were unable to get the B-Cam to read A-Cam's settings. It was due to the camera's MS read/writer not set to the right level for the larger cards. A quick tweak by a knowledgeable Panavision Technician solved the problem.

Out of curiosity, how many different setups can you store on one memory stick?

As far as I know you're limited to 5 regardless of the stick size.

Five? No matter how, err, big your stick is?

Can you download more than five into the camera, so that they are accessible without having to change sticks?

ummmm... the manual says; 20 "groups" of 5 set-ups on a stick regardless of size, total =100.

I have never looked for where you go to select a "group" as I have not needed more than 2 or 3 on a show, think I will go look today...

C'mon I know you're here, tell us what works.

100 setups in 20 groups of 5 with the /3 (this need min 16MB stick) we use 64MB magic gate or not with no problems

The cameras do not need to be "tuned" for bigger capacity memory sticks. The flux capacitors need to be changed out but no tuning needed.

Hope this helps

As I recall on the page where you recall the individual scene files you will find a menu item to choose the group.

That is true. You will also find that you can only give names to groups. For that reason alone we use lots of groups.

Sponsorship of CML

CML is maintained mainly by sponsorship, this sponsorship enables us to continue to grow and provide a continually expanding information service to all those involved in cinematography.

JPB of Aaton came up with the original suggestion of basing sponsorship on $1 per member per year. We have now outgrown this as we are too big now to justify this level of support and it's been fixed at $2,400 per year for the last 5 years.

For this a sponsor gets a logo on the web-site header which appears on all 3,000+ pages and a tag on every message posted via CML.

We sent out 33.4 million email messages in the last 12 months. They also get access to private mailing lists that we can set up for their specific requirements.
