A promotional spot for the news division of Middle East Broadcasting.
They wanted to get a sense of unrgency to the spot so I shot
it with extreme wide-angles, mostly a re-built Kinoptic 9.8mm
as I wanted dramatic flares, and Steadicam
For the opening sequence my electricians were jumping around
moving lamps in shot so that as the camera swung around with
the ENG crew the lamps wouldn't be in shot, Holy Flying 6K's!
It was particularly strange for me as the head of news was someone
who I'd worked with on doccos 20 years before and as he was
an ex TV cameraman he "knew" what would come out and what wouldn't.
Of course I was "underlighting" and "too contrasty" ah well,
he never had the benefit of low con stock :-)
We shot this on my birthday and as we wrapped late in the evening
the chamagne was broken out by the producer!
